That Little Scruffy Dude

Today turned out to be an interesting day!

Got up kinda late, felt achy from yesterdays workout , decided to skip morning workout and run later in the park. My usual routine; cup of jasmine green tea, fire up computer, check e-mails, do some business stuff, than switch to composer mode for the rest of the day.

Before I knew it it was 5:30pm, Jim texted me saying he's on his way home; attached was a picture of a dog with "that's the dog JP rescued yesterday". I'm thinking, awww, how cute. I remember him telling me the story the day before. More pictures keep coming, so I'm asking how many more pictures do you have?

Long story short, he explains to me that the dog is in our car and he'll meet up with JP to get the dog back to it's owner. Of course now I want to see the dog and witness this magical moment.

I jump in the car, pet the doggy, he's super cute, white and he's got huge paws. A little shy but adorable. ;)

We meet up with JP, he's on the phone giving the lady who claims to be the owner directions to where we are.

He tells me the whole story, how he went on lunch break, saw the dog crossing a busy street, and basically kept chasing after the dog for almost 20 minutes, almost getting hit by cars himself. He finally caught the dog with the help of some other people, carried him back to work, which was another 20 minute walk in the heat. He was soaked and dirty, just like his new buddy.

The dog was full of ticks and fleas, he dropped him off at a local pet hospital who cleaned him up.

Later on that day, while on the phone with someone in the car, he had pulled over for better reception and immediately saw a lost dog sign that seemed to perfectly fit the description.

He called the person, sent her pictures of the dog, she was crying, saying it's her dog, so excited to reunite with her lost pet.

After what seemed like an hour, she finally arrived, gave JP a huge hug, broke his sunglasses in all the excitement, thanking him; while I'm filming this happy moment, she looks at the dog and says...."oh no, this is not my babe"....WOW. Apparently she didn't look at the pictures he had sent her and the people at the hospital were clueless, didn't even know the breed, nor did they get rid of all the ticks.

So there we were, wrong mommy, a cute stray, still infested with ticks in our car, scratching away. JP started calling some local animal hospitals who kept putting him on hold forever, sending him from one person to another. Super annoying, than telling us they can't take him and to try a different location.

Thankfully, I knew of a great animal hospital in Sherman Oaks, we dropped him off, they welcomed him, everyone immediately said "wow, what a cute dog"; so hopefully tomorrow they'll tell us that he's healthy and clean, ready for a real home. Wherever that may be!

Although this wasn't quite what I had planned for today, it felt great to be able to help. We went to clean the car, chilled with a Chai Latte at Starbucks and laughed about the whole thing. I still went running; the little rain made it actually pleasant.

It's midnight now, perfect time to start composing for real! ;) Still plenty of time to get stuff done ;)

Just shows, there are quite a few nice people out there, who go out of their way to help someone in need. I got a feeling he will find a loving home ;)
If you happen to know someone who's missing a dog like this, feel free to hit me up!!!! Not sure if it's a he or she yet but will know tomorrow!
;) JVB
